Workforce Initiative Subsidy for Homeownership (WISH) Grant Program1

A little extra help can go a long way. The WISH Grant Program offers eligible first-time homebuyers a 4-to-1 match on their down payment contribution, with grants of up to $32,837. If you haven’t owned a home in the last three years, you may qualify. Since funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, our mortgage experts are here to help you explore your options and guide you through the process.

Could You Qualify for the WISH Grant Program?

To be eligible for WISH Grant Program funding, you must:

Be a first-time homebuyer, meaning you have not owned a residential property within the past three years, and meet the eligibility guidelines established by the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLBank).

  • Contribute at least $1 toward your down payment for every $4 in grant funds requested. Your contribution may come from personal savings, eligible grants, or gifted funds.
  • Meet household income requirements by earning at or below 80% of the HUD Area Median Income (AMI) for the location of the home you are purchasing.
  • Complete an approved homebuyer education or counseling program before closing.

Not sure if you qualify? Our Mortgage Loan Officers are happy to review your eligibility and help you navigate the application process.

Middle-Income Down Payment Assistance (MDPA) Grant Program2

The MDPA Grant Program helps eligible first-time homebuyers bridge the gap to homeownership by providing up to $50,000 toward a down payment, closing costs, and other eligible home purchase expenses. If you haven’t owned a home in the past three years, have a minimum down payment of $10,000, and meet the program’s eligibility requirements, you may qualify. Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so talk with a First Credit Union Mortgage Loan Officer to learn more.
